Indo-Utsav 2026: Celebrating Unity, Culture, and Independence

Event Overview

ISRK was proud to be a co-organizer of Indo-Utsav 2026, held at UST Hall, Daejeon, South Korea, on August 15, 2026. The event was organized by Indians in Daejeon (IID) and brought together the Indian community for a meaningful celebration of culture, patriotism, friendship, and unity away from home.

This was the second time ISRK co-organized Indo-Utsav with IID, continuing a strong community partnership and shared commitment to bringing Indian families, students, researchers, and professionals together in Korea.

IID - ISRK Leadership

The IID-ISRK team led by Dr. Pravin Upare and Mr. Abhishek Negi, both serving as Executive Secretaries in ISRK, who played leading roles in supporting and coordinating the event. Dr. Manas R. Biswal, Vice-President for Cultural Programs and Events at ISRK, also joined the function and supported the celebration.

Community Participation

Around 120 participants, including families and children, attended the event. The celebration created a warm and welcoming atmosphere where the Indian community could come together, connect, and celebrate shared identity while living in Korea.

Children presented multicultural activities and patriotic performances, adding energy and meaning to the celebration. Their performances reflected the spirit of India while also embracing the multicultural environment of Korea.

Food, Culture, and Togetherness

Community families contributed a wide variety of delicious food, including dosa, vadapav, lassi, jalebi, bonda, buttermilk, idli, and sambar. The food stalls and shared meals became an important part of the celebration, bringing everyone together through familiar tastes and community hospitality.

August 15 is a special day for India as Independence Day. It is also a meaningful day in Korea, as it marks Korea’s Liberation Day from Japanese rule. Indo-Utsav 2026 therefore carried a deeper message of freedom, cultural respect, and friendship between communities.
